A companion piece to this site's In-Q-Tel analysis traced one way the government puts capital to work without disclosing it. There's a third position on the same dial, and it's the opposite of hidden: since mid-2025, the U.S. government has taken direct equity stakes in Intel, MP Materials, USA Rare Earth, and GlobalFoundries -- not funding these companies, owning pieces of them, in full public view, filed with the SEC like any other shareholder. It is the same lever -- government capital shaping which companies succeed -- just moved to the most visible position it can occupy.
