Steve Wozniak didn't design the Apple I because he was smarter than everyone who didn't. He designed it because he was in a garage in Menlo Park on March 5, 1975, and thirty-one other people were too. Curiosity and talent are real, but proximity is the actual gating mechanism for what a person ends up building.
