About Gettysburg

A Civil War battlefield preserved before the war itself even ended, redefined by Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, and repurposed a century later as Eisenhower's own Cold War negotiating ground -- four real, separate reasons across 162 years, not one. The real economy built up around that history and Adams County's farmland: Knouse Foods (the cooperative behind Musselman's and Lucky Leaf) and Rice Fruit Company process and pack fruit grown by orchards like Hollabaugh Bros. and Boyer Nurseries, Adams County Winery has run for 45 years, and Gettysburg College anchors the town alongside the battlefield tourism that brings over a million visitors a year.
