Casio has launched Moflin, a palm-sized robotic pet dog priced at $429 that uses proprietary AI to develop unique emotional personalities over time through voice recognition and touch sensors. Unlike mobile robots, Moflin is stationary with head movements only, but learns user interactions to develop distinct emotional profiles (4+ million possible personalities), with no reset capability to foster long-term bonding. The device sold out in Japan after a viral crowdfunding campaign exceeding its goal by 3,000%, and is now available in the US and UK.
