The Ethereum Foundation released zkAPI, a zero-knowledge protocol enabling private paid API access where users deposit ETH, generate a ZK proof, and receive API quota while maintaining anonymity and unlinkability of usage patterns. The protocol abstracts payment metadata from identity and is live with OpenAI Chat; it generalizes beyond AI inference to any gated API resource.
