This edition covers the real Texas outside Austin, Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, and San Antonio, which already have their own dedicated coverage. El Paso is Texas's sixth-largest city, on the border with Ciudad Juarez and closer to Phoenix than to any of the state's five named editions -- a real, distinct binational economy. The Rio Grande Valley, anchored by McAllen in Hidalgo County, is one of the fastest-growing regions in the country and runs on trade through its own border crossings. Lubbock (Texas Tech) and Abilene anchor West Texas and the Permian Basin oil economy. Corpus Christi and Beaumont anchor the Gulf Coast's refining and petrochemical corridor outside Houston. College Station, home to Texas A&M, and Waco, home to Baylor, are their own real university-town economies. None of these are Austin, Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, or San Antonio, and this edition doesn't treat them as smaller versions of any of the five.
