About Detroit

Detroit sits on the river separating Michigan from Canada, and was the automotive capital of the world for most of the 20th century — a fact that shapes its mobility and advanced-manufacturing companies more directly than most cities' industrial pasts do. The University of Michigan, just west in Ann Arbor, and Wayne State in the city itself both feed that same engineering base.
