About Houston

Houston sits on the Gulf Coast with a ship channel that made it the country's energy capital, and NASA's Johnson Space Center put human spaceflight operations there too — two industries that don't usually share a city. Rice University and the University of Houston anchor the research side, and the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world by size, makes health tech a third pillar most people don't expect to find alongside oil and space.
