This edition covers the real Missouri outside Kansas City and St. Louis, which already have their own dedicated coverage. Jefferson City, in Cole County, is the state capital -- a real government-and-insurance economy, not a satellite of either larger metro. Columbia, in Boone County, is home to the University of Missouri and a real biotech and agricultural-research base. Springfield, in Greene County, is Missouri's third-largest city and the real economic center of the Ozarks, built on healthcare systems and a diversified manufacturing base. Cape Girardeau anchors southeast Missouri along the Mississippi. None of these are Kansas City or St. Louis, and this edition doesn't treat them as smaller versions of either.
