About Silicon Forest

Portland's tech nickname comes from Intel's massive Oregon manufacturing presence, but Tektronix — an electronics and test-equipment company — was there first, decades earlier, and helped seed the engineering culture Intel later built on. Oregon Health & Science University anchors a health-tech side that runs alongside software and cleantech in the Willamette Valley.
